The village of Corona del Mar is admiringly known as the “Crown of the Sea,” “CdM” or “The Flower Streets,” by locals, or simply “The Village.” This charming seaside community is considered to be one of the most beautiful areas on the Southern California coastline and is full of eclectic shops, world-class restaurants, a grocery store, and other businesses. 
 
Bordering the communities of Crystal Cove and Newport Coast and running north and south of the Pacific Coast Highway, this neighborhood is just steps to white-sand beaches and is extremely walkable and pedestrian-friendly. Beverley BJ Johnson lived in Corona del Mar for 30 years and was actively involved in civic affairs, such as serving as Chairman of the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce and President of Corona del Mar Residents Association. She is presently on the Friends of Oasis Board of Advocates.

Corona del Mar Village also offers quick and casual, yet delicious bites, such as freshly-made donuts and breakfast burritos from Rose Bakery Cafe or a pastrami sandwich from Gary’s New York Style Deli.
 
Residents and visitors can enjoy strolling the grounds of the Sherman Library and Gardens. Known as a horticultural oasis and nationally-renowned botanical garden, as well as a historical research library specializing in the history of the Pacific Southwest, visitors can spend an entire day exploring the gardens and leafing through the library’s collections. 
 
The Oasis Senior Center is located a stone’s throw from The Village and offers a variety of classes, fitness services, facility rentals for events, and biking and walking trail information. 
 
The area has plenty of shopping options, such as Red Fox and the shops in Corona del Mar Plaza. Brides-to-be won’t want to miss The White Dress and those with a high-end sense of style should check out On Que Style. 

Things to Do

A number of popular events are hosted in Corona del Mar, such as the famous sandcastle contest—a 40-year tradition that takes place every September. The community’s annual Corona del Mar Scenic 5k draws runners from around the world. Both competitive runners and those looking to socialize and enjoy the picturesque beach views take advantage of this neighborhood race!
 
Other year-round and annual events include Sherman Gardens’ exhibits and activities and the incredibly fun Corona Del Mar Christmas Walk
 
Big Corona Beach is an ideal spot for families, swimmers, sunbathers, and water sport enthusiasts. Little Corona Beach offers breathtaking views of the ocean and is a popular vantage point to watch the sunrise and sunset. 

Schools

Corona del Mar falls under the Newport-Mesa School District. The district also covers Newport Beach and Costa Mesa and enrolls approximately 22,000 students in 32 schools, including 13 preschools, 22 elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. 
The district holds several distinctions, such as the second-lowest class sizes in the county and a selection of Gold Ribbon Schools, California Distinguished Schools, Title I Academic Achievement Schools, National Blue Ribbon Schools, and California School Board Association Golden Bell Awards.
  • Harbor View Elementary School: Grades K-6, Public, (This school has a hard-earned reputation as a top school with far above average test scores. It has over 400 students and a student-teacher ratio of 24 to 1)

  • Corona del Mar Middle and High School: Grades 7-12, Public (Corona del Mar High School is one of the best public prep high schools in America. The school ranks #28 out of 1,371 high schools in California for academics and #24 for their athletics program)
